9 months!

Wow time is flying!!!!  Already summer break.. but not for me haha..  normal week here in Ecuador, not much has happened, living the life as usual.

Well what's happened.  Work as usual, it wasn't a week super tuca, but we did find a few people, and we were able to put a baptismal date for the guy that's gone to church for like a year..  it's still 2 months away, he wanted to be baptized on like his year anniversary of investigating the church, so whatever, hoping he sticks with it..  We also put down a marriage date for 2 investigators that we have for the 8th of July, so hoping we can get everything worked out for that.  But ya the work is good and I'm loving the mish right now..  2 more weeks left of the change which will be awesome, ready for some changes..  But hoping to finish strong here.. Why am I talking like I'm leaving.. probably not gonna leave here but hey I like the sector, and way pumped to eat with the members again and not in my house everyday!  Well that's my weeks tbh, not much has happened.. on Tuesday at district meeting, Elder Palmer is in my group so we celebrated 9 months.. oh and also Elder Alvarados bday.. haha.  It was funny I bought a little cake and hid it, and at the end of the meeting, I pulled it out to eat and was  like, well everyone, today is a special day.. today Elder Palmer completed 9 months of his mission!!! and so did I!!   Oh ya and it's Elder Alvarados bday.. haha it was funny, but hey así pasa.. yep, that's about it..

Today we played American football with the Calderon zone and our zone.. a ton of missionaries, it was pretty fun.  Probably got super burned cause I never put on sunscreen, but hey I'll just come back with some wrecked skin..

Oh ya something cool from this week is that we had the challenge to memorize the Living Christ before a meeting we have with a 70's in June, but I tried to finish it before the zone meeting we had with President this Thursday and I was the only one with it completely memorized.. It was tough but it was a cool experience.. I did it in Spanish, and well tis cool cause I'm not just memorizing the words, but focusing and understanding them.. it was a really cool, spiritual experience.. a lot of the general authorities from this last general  conference talked about this document, read it, cause it's a good one!

Well thanks for everything, and hope you all had a good memorial day.

9 months ya mismo

Wow!!!   Time flies..  mña I'm gonna have 9 months in the mission field..  it's legit.  Turns out the mission is pretty cool..  but ya it's been an ok week, not much to report tbh.. We worked hard, but didn't find too many new investigators, but hey sometimes it touches.. This week we'll be working hard again to do that..  Que mas, well with the investigators we have, not many are progressing to fast..  there's one hmo who's been coming to church for like a year and doesn't want to commit to baptism yet, he's sooo close!!!  I straight up told him, hey you are more active in this church than like 50% of the members, soo  you need to be baptized, you're already like a member and I'm pretty sure a bunch of the members think that you are.. haha  But ya no one with a baptismal date, hoping to fechar en esta sma, ..  but ya normal week tbh..  Something cool that I learned in my scripture study this week was in Mosiah 23 y 24 I think..  it's about the people of Alma in Helam I think, no me recuerdo muy bien, but  basically even though they were really righteous, it says that the lord saw it fit to chastise them to see their faith and patience.. soo they had a ton of problems, but through their faith and patience, they were freed from captivity..  I have a general conference talk from Elder Christofferoson that I like a lot, and it's about chastisement from the lord (not much helpI am cause I don't remember what it's called but I think it's from 2012)..  We can be doing the things right in this life, but we're still going to have challenges, some really big challenges sometimes, but I think it's like it says in the scriptures, sometimes they come from the lord to strengthen us.. Gods plan is perfect, and part of that plan is the Saviors sacrifice in gethsemane, because  he knows us perfectly, he suffered for these challenges and pains that we have, so we just need to keep pushing forward through these challenges, and we'll come out on top and most importantly with a stronger testimony..  But ya that's a lil pensamiento espiritual that I wanted to share...  That came in handy a lot this week with a recent convert we were able to teach this week, who has a ton of problems right now.. but ya welp, that's my week (that would've been way easier to write in Spanish)

Today for pday was pretty fun..  we went to another mall thing to bowl and play pool which was fun, haven't done that in a long time!  Nice relaxing pday.. It's cool to see parts of Ecuador, but sometimes the best pdays are just relaxing ones like this.. After that we went to a  park to play sports.. and I bought a football today.. no not a soccer ball, an American football and we played football today, it was way fun, cause hey, the gringos like wrecked.. hahah nah it was cool the Latinos wanted to learn to play, so we taught them and played a bit.. fun day.  Well ya that's about it, thanks everyone for the emails and hope you're all having a good week.

Happy Mother's Day!

Well Happy Mothers Day to everyone!!  Hope it was a good one for all of you!

It was way awesome talking with my family yesterday..  But ya, that was definately the highlight of the week!

Well it's been a good week here in Ecuador, we were able to find a lot of new investigators this week, we found 12.  That's my record here in this sector!  One day this week, with Elder Aplemer in exchanges we found 5 new investigators really was a miracle.. Miracles do happen here in the mish.

Well what else happened this week, oh ya Saturday we had a baptism..  3 as a district which is really awesome!  But ya it was awesome, 2 baptisms yesterday in our ward, one from my sector and one from the other sector in the ward.  It was a little stressful because our investigators showed up 2 hours late and so did the bishop so we were just there waiting for everyone to show up, but eventually we were able to start.  Good week en serio.  Well that's basically my week, not much happened, but ready for another week!

Another week in the mish!

Wow, another week in the mish..  it's been an ok one..  Not sure what to saa really..  We've been working hard, and haven't seen much success this week..  We've been contacting a lot butttt haven't had much success like I said but that's how the mish goes sometimes..

The new district is pretty cool..  Elder Palmer is here and the other new Elder is Elder Andrus.. he is one change behind me and is from AZ also which is pretty cool, from the Westside he told me..  the new hmas are hma Sindel from St Louis and hma Pfocco from Peru, she in her first week..  ya its a pretty cool district.

Bueno this week we're gonna have baptism for hma Maria who fell right before her last date, but she's super excited for it and super ready.  The hma Maria from Elder Alvarado and Palmer, who are in my Ward here, are also gonna baptize an hma Maria too.  And another hma Maria from Elder Andrus and Guachalla is gonna be baptized this Saturday too!  3 Marias haha..  but ya we're excited for this!

Welp that's my week, today for pday we went to the middle of the earth monument in Quito as a zone..  Pretty cool,  got a lot of photos there..  not too shabby of a day..  Well not much else to say..   Super excited for this week to talk with the fam, the mish is cruising!!!  Already have almost 9 months out here.  But ya, wanted to say Happy Mothers Day to everyone out there.. Hope you all have a good week.

CHANGES

Change
and I didn;t move.... Neither did my companion, but bueno bien esta, I'll be cooking my food for another 6 weeks.

Well hope you guys all had a good week, cause mine wasn't that great.. kind of a tough one but asi pasa a veces..  Yep like I said we had changes the other day, and I lost like half of my district..  Elder Baumgartner, Elder Harrison, and the 2 sister leaders all left..  Kind of a bummer cause it was a cool district but this next change could be fun too..  Elder Palmer from my group is taking over Elder Baumgartners place so he'll be in my ward with me!!  Cool beans.   We're also receiving Elder Andrus, who I don't know yet, but he's also one group behind me..  Then another hma is gonna come and train and open the sector...  idk, should be fun.

For the week, not much to report..  just kind of a bad one.. Sometimes it happens.. We're working but just didn't see the results this week as a district..  So we are hoping to start fresh this change and be more diligent..  we can always be more diligent in this work.  So if we can make those changes, it should be a good week.  What else, idk just kind of a stressful week..

Today were the changes, and that's about it, we went to eat at the mall thing with a lot of the new missionaries here which was fun.. Talked with Elder Palmer..  He told my ccm comp Elder Haslam is training this change!  Which is super awesome!   My trainer who was in  this zone got changed to Caladeron,(my zone of 4 days) as a zone leader..   way cool!  Full changes!  haha full is a word here..  like a lot, but its totally English..   pretty sure it's only Ecuador...  haha

Welp that's it, there's the week of you favorite Ecuadork, haha

hope you all have a good week

Wow, 8 months out! full rapido en Serio

Que mas?! wow, 8 months out! full rapido en Serio

Well let's see what happened this week.. I had my first baptismal interview with an hma that some elders in my district are teaching...it was an interesting experience, definitely cool.  Also we had a another baptism, but we were supposed to have 2.. Like I said last week I was pity picked to baptize the hma, but she shows up with her daughter who was also gonna be baptized and said elders we need to talk..  She told us that the night before she had been with family, and let's just say, she fell in a commandment a day before her baptism.. She said she felt really bad but that she had repented..  and we said well that's good, butttt you can't be baptized because it was a matter of hours.. so we talked with the zone leaders and they said the same thing..  So the daughter went through with her baptism and the hma, we don't know when we're gonna have the baptism..  We  were able to have the zone leaders over to help us share a lesson about the atonement of Jesus Christ and repentance with the hma, and it was really good.  We'll see how these next weeks go.. We'll baptize her as soon as we can, but she needs to prepare a little bit more..  But ya the hma baptism was cool.  And the next day she asked me to do the confirmation, which I've never done before, but it was cool!   Other that that, kind of a hard week tbh..   Not too receptive the people..  but a veces toca..  We'll see how this next week goes.. Last week in the change..  We'll see what happens..  I'm not going anywhere..  I don't think, but let's see what happens..  ya pues
se cuidarán mis vecis, tengan una muy buena semana, con amor

Oh ya forgot to say, for Pday we went to a place called teleferico, it's like a gondola and we got s=to see like all of Quito up there.  Alli estan las fotos.  The two volcanoes are Cayambe (woohoo mi sector) and cotapaxi!! full chevere en serio.

I'm Alive! Sorry about last week.

Hello everyone, sorry for last, week, I completely forgot  to write.. I hopped on, read my emails, and then started to download music and  GC talks to my flash, then at the end of my hour, I realized there was no time..   but hey all is well here in Ofelia!

Let's see this week we had a baptism for an hma that we have... idk I feel kind of weird cause I didn't find her and only helped out at the end of her lessons, but she's really cool, she has a testimony and was super cool to see a ton of investigators at the service..  we've been having success here in this sector.. but again, it's mostly the people that I inherited in the change.. but a veces toca..  This week were gonna have 2 more baptisms.. (yes people before I came) and I got pity picked to baptize one of them.. haha  the daughter picked my comp, and the mom was quiet like what should I do now, I was about to say look I don't care if he baptizes both of you, but the daughter said, pick Elder Jensen, soo  I'm gonna do it..  They're cool too, hoping to have a lot of success this week in finding new investigators..   Also this next week I'm gonna have my first baptismal interview, so I'm excited for that!  Let's see this Sunday I gave a talk and it was free topic, soo I talked about the atonement of Jesus Christ..  We received a packet mas o menos from Pres Murphy this week about a study list of the atonement, and in it it had a talk from Pres Faust in 2001 called "The atonement our greatest hope"!   Great talk.. I was able to talk for like 15 min and the spirit was felt, well at least I felt it... but super cool to learn about this topic a little bit more this week.. for La Pascua, Easter, it was a normal day and week really.. we've been using these pass-a-long cards for the Easter Initiative Prince of Peace!  There's a cool video on mormon.org about it, watch it!  But ya, cool week.

Well, the best news of the week right here.    Elder Christofferson came to our mission today!!!!  We got to shake his hand and listen to him speak Spanish  to us for like an hour, he speaks good Spanish!  But way cool, the Quito Missionaries came too , so there were a ton of missionaries here!! Everyone except the zones in the coast, the jungle and Colombia came to the meeting  so it was way cool..  It was way cool, because he described the process of picking a mission for each missionary.  to me its awesome to know that were chosen to these places by apostolic revelation, he told us there are no mistakes in this process..  we were picked to each place for a reason or paired up with a certain Mission President for a reason..  definitely strengthened my testimony.  After listening to him for like an hour the meeting finished.. another cool thing about today was that I got to see a ton of people from my MTC group!!  We took a pic together.  I haven't seen most of them since like November!!  Like 6 months!!  So that was awesome.  Really a great p-day.

Well that's about it for my week.. my Spanish is progressing a lot. I can understand basically everything and I can talk at least good enough to explain things..  working on the accent, but I've come a long ways, super proud of myself tbh, but ya, thanks for the emails, I'll be sure to write you every week from now on, last week was weird..
