Working in the Jungle...Kind Of

Well, like I said last week, the jungle really isn't much jungle,.. or at least where I'm at..  It's a city.. and that's about it, ya it's in the middle of the jungle, but we're kind of far from that.  There's some big rivers surrounding the city which is pretty cool and on the other side you can kind of see the jungle.   But ya, that's how it is.. Welp it's been an interesting week, not too much has happened. President Murphy came to coca for like 3 days for the zone mtng and for the interviews of the branch, the mission is in charge of the branch here so he's like the stake president and has to come every once in a while for interviews.  But ya that was cool, he was here for 2 baptisms from my district.  We should be having some baptisms really soon we hope.. Basically there's 6 missionaries here, and 2 of them are going home in 4 weeks.  Hoping they finish strong.  Could be a really good district, but there's always room for improvement.  What else can I say,  ya here we have a lot of investigators attending every week. Yesterday, we had 14! Super receptive the people here! We have this one family who's progressing really well, and accepted a baptismal date for the 22nd of July.. Hoping they make it to that date. But ya, there's a lot of potential in this city. The chapel is a house chapel basically, it's pretty small, but officially there's like no room for all the people attending. There's like 135 regularly now, and that's like packed! Soo we need to do something about this and fast.  Well, it should be fun here these next few weeks. Well that's about it for my week, the heat isn't too bad right now, cause it's been raining a lot, and that cools things down, but it's like rainforest rain, which sucks. Super powerful! Hope all of you are having a good week! Left my camera at home, but I forgot to take pics anyway.. I'll be better about that.  Also we'll be changing houses here soon cause there's no ac in my house, and it's hot!

First Week in the Jungle!

Welp, that was a fun week.. Kind of long tbh, but hey success in the jungle!  Here the people are really receptive!  Awesome people!... Butttt no one is married, so that's the challenge here in the Orient, we gotta help them out a lot with that..

But wow, fun week.  We worked a lot!  Really long week tbh, and it doesn't help with the humidity, that just makes everything worse, but you get used to it.. little by little.

We have a cool district, me and my companion Elder Perez from Bolivia.  Elder Lalliss is from California and his comp Elder Veliz from Chile.  Then Elder Molina from Peru and Elder Mitillo from Argentina.  2 of them are gonna finish this change, my comp and Elder Mitillo.  Hoping that they decide to finish strong and not just be lazy for their last month in the mission.. but ya, like I said it was a pretty successful week.  We found 18 new investigator!  A lot of them were futures that my comp contacted last week before I came, but we were able to have like 20 appointments! Here, whole families like to listen, so we find a lot of new people like that, but like I said it's a tough culture cause no one is married..  even worse than Quito and Cayambe.  But ya, it means we just have to work really hard and serve this people..

I think I'm gonna like this sector. I've now had my week to get used to the sector so we'll see how the next 4 or 5 weeks are.

I'll be better about taking pictures from now on, cause now there's things to take pictures of..  thanks everyone, enjoy your week.

Welcome to the Jungle!

Welp, crazy week indeed...  I was all set on staying in my sector, no probs and then the changes came.. and Hey I got changed!  Where????  To the jungle baby!! hahaha

Ya not gonna lie, I wasn't ready to leave my sector. It was a good one tbh, but a veces toca.  Nothing I can do.  Gotta say I'm pretty stoked to be here in the Orient of Ecuador, but hey, it's hot.. I know I'm from AZ but this is wayyy different. Way different en serio.  It's super humid here. I thought this was the dry season, but I woke up this morning and it rained sooo hard.  Hardest rain I've ever seen in my life. Definately need to buy an umbrella.

But ya, good week in my last sector.  Kind of sad to say  bye to my district cause it was good one, but ya it's all good.  Here in the orient I'm with 6 elders in coca in total. and 6 more are in lago agrio 2 hours away.  But ya that's my zone..  2 elders from my group are in lago and no one here in coca, but hey it should be fun.. yesterday we left at like 8 and arrived here in coca at like 8 at night.. super long day!   Welp, I'll send fotos next week of the jungle, cause my flash has like a virus, and my comps fixing it, soo next week it should be good..  but ya hope you all have a good week!

How's It Goin?

Hey everyone, How's it going?  It's been a good week here in the work, and time is flying sooo fast.. each week feels like a day.. In the beginning I thought the mission was never going to end, and now it's just flying by...  It's awesome out here, hoping to finish the change out strong.

We have changes next Monday so we'll see what happens, probably gonna stay but who knows, weird things happen sometimes..

But let's see what's happened this week..  got a lot of new investigators and were working..  We had a really cool experience Friday.. We finished a lesson and were heading to the bus stop to go up top to the house to sleep..  At the bus stop was this guy from the coast that we had contacted before.  He was like hey when are you going to come to my house, cause last time we got super lost, and couldn't find it, so he took us to his house which was like way out there, in a sector we had never seen before..  We got to his house took out an appointment for another day and talked for a little bit when a taxi pulled up.. The man rolled down the window and yelled Elders!  So we went over and he and his wife told us that they had been looking for missionaries here in their sector for a while now and had never found them. They were praying to find us and had been going to church with the mans sister in the Quito mission really far away..  When they saw us they said that was an answer to their prayers.. We were able to get an appointment for Sunday.. When we went over with some members, they told us that they had a ton of problems, but when they saw us that was an answer.. We were able to help them a lot and the testimonies of the members helped a ton! Seriously all of you guys out there, accompany the missionaries every once in a while cause it helps a ton!  But ya that was a miracle en serio.. it's cool to see how God puts people in our way to help us to find other people in need.

But ya that's the mission..  cool week, and boring pday..  Didn't do anything really.  Just played soccer and football at our chapel with the elders in my district cause no one did anything in the zone.. and next week will be the same probably cause changes butt ya..  ate Mcdonalds for the first time in 9 months..  That's about all the excitement of my day

Hoping to finish strong here..  well thanks for everything, and enjoy your summer!
